ya, IT can refer to anything, such as hardware support, or configuring things in windows server environments.

Since I do not have a degree in comp sci, I definitely can relate to your statement about evaluating computer scientists based on how much time is actually spent coding apps, especially real finished projects for real clients.

I actually think theory and all those intro classes taught at Universities are quite the timewasters (challenging but unnecessary). Until you go and build a real app in a real world situation for money, all that other classroom stuff is fluff utilized in measuring someone’s potential (or failure potential), and I never enjoyed it.

Btw, nice changes to your blog. I’ve tried Ruby on Rails but recently switched to django, liking python way more and the django advanced templating system is second to none.
